CD Signage

What’s been missing in our neighborhood, in my opinion, is a really great place for home decor for yourself or for a gift – sorry, but neither Jonathan Adler nor Bella Casa do it for me. With the recent opening of Christopher David, my prayers have been answered. Chock full of delightful items to freshen up your space or the home of the very lucky host/ess who sent you an invitation to tonight’s cocktail party, Chris Giovarelli offers up goods at all price points.

The window displays alone make you eager to get inside and the variety and quality of the items keep you thinking about them long after you’ve had to leave the store to get back to work.

Design Anchor

But gifts are not the only thing at CD! There are three distinct parts to the space – one end is anchored with owner Chris’ full service design studio and the other by Cosmin Bisorca’s floral area. The center is anchored by the coffee bar.

In floral, on offer are gorgeous fresh flowers to purchase by the stem or bouquet, terrariums of succulents and air plants and a variety of vases. Cosmin provides full floral service for special events and occassions and workshops on flower arranging and terrarium building.

For the caffeine-needy, Kevin Nichols is Barista Extraordinaire. He offers, among other things, Water Avenue coffee and those mouth-watering Nuvrei pastries (to me the BEST croissant this side of the Seine). Their location at the head of Jamison Park is a natural for sitting and sipping (with any luck you’ll see me there with a glass of wine very soon).

Let’s see….latte or cap, croissant or pain du raisin?

But as I said, it’s the contents of the shop that keep me coming back. A nice mixture of new and old – repurposed and antique and fresh-off-the-trending list, Chris’ choices in furniture, lighting and accessories are just right. Cosmin’s flowers add the right touch of life to the space and Kevin’s patrons of the coffee bar help to keep the energy up.

  1. I’ve been there as well, and it is a terrific shopping and sipping destination. Can’t describe it as well as Bettie, but am in full agreement!!

  2. Coffee was very good, especially atmosphere excellent .
    Thanks CD’s.
Also CD’s logo designs are good, I’d designing I found that signs.

  3. Thanks for the heads up on Christopher David…a great place! However, dissing the competition is not smart marketing. All three of the Interior design shops in the Pearl are just as great, but in different ways.

    1. Thanks for commenting, Timothy! Hardly dissing, though. I love Bella Casa for many things; particularly since they’ve expanded, there are so many great things to chose from and I’m a regular customer. Jonathan Adler is too modern for my taste and that’s all the comment was, my opinion! Let’s keep all the Pearl businesses open and SHOP LOCAL!! Thanks again!

  4. I was surprised to see a location like this open in the pearl with a coffee shop on the corner, a florist on the other side of the block, and a furniture store next door. I am not sure whether CDEXD will survive with so much established competition within walking distance. I also found its employees to be unfriendly.
