EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS IN THE PEARL –

Posted on 08/6/2015

We are pretty sure you read the most recent NewYorker Magazine article, “The Really Big One”, which highlighted the earthquake hazard in the Pacific Northwest. The Pearl District has a moderate to high earthquake hazard that threatens the safety of its 7,000 residents and 900-plus businesses with over 12,000 employees.  The PDNA E-Prep Committee has launched a grassroots, resident-lead, emergency preparedness program in the Pearl District. E-Prep organizing initiatives are underway in more than a half-dozen residential buildings in the Pearl, with more under development.  PDNA would like to explore the opportunity to partner with PDBA to expand the Pearl E-Prep Program to address the needs of Pearl area businesses and their employees.

Please join your fellow Pearl District Business Association members for a very informative and timely Monthly Breakfast Meeting this Wednesday, August 12th from 7:30am-9am at BridgePort BrewPub to find out more about how to be prepared for this hazard. The guest speaker will be John Warner, a board member for the Pearl District Neighborhood Association (PDNA), and chair of the association’s Emergency Preparedness (E-Prep) Committee.
