What’s been missing in our neighborhood, in my opinion, is a really great place for home decor for yourself or for a gift – sorry, but neither Jonathan Adler nor Bella Casa do it for me. With the recent opening of Christopher David, my prayers have been answered. Chock full of delightful items to freshen up your space or the home of the very lucky host/ess who sent you an invitation to tonight’s cocktail party, Chris Giovarelli offers up goods at all price points.
The window displays alone make you eager to get inside and the variety and quality of the items keep you thinking about them long after you’ve had to leave the store to get back to work.
But gifts are not the only thing at CD! There are three distinct parts to the space – one end is anchored with owner Chris’ full service design studio and the other by Cosmin Bisorca’s floral area. The center is anchored by the coffee bar.
In floral, on offer are gorgeous fresh flowers to purchase by the stem or bouquet, terrariums of succulents and air plants and a variety of vases. Cosmin provides full floral service for special events and occassions and workshops on flower arranging and terrarium building.
For the caffeine-needy, Kevin Nichols is Barista Extraordinaire. He offers, among other things, Water Avenue coffee and those mouth-watering Nuvrei pastries (to me the BEST croissant this side of the Seine). Their location at the head of Jamison Park is a natural for sitting and sipping (with any luck you’ll see me there with a glass of wine very soon).
But as I said, it’s the contents of the shop that keep me coming back. A nice mixture of new and old – repurposed and antique and fresh-off-the-trending list, Chris’ choices in furniture, lighting and accessories are just right. Cosmin’s flowers add the right touch of life to the space and Kevin’s patrons of the coffee bar help to keep the energy up.
